  • Post-doctoral Research Associates at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford on energy, charge and ion transport in functional materials with soft structural dynamics

The Universities of Cambridge and Oxford invite expressions of interest for several post-doctoral Research Associate positions on a recently awarded £6.8 million EPSRC Programme Grant on harnessing vibration-induced enhancement of transport in functional materials with soft structural dynamics that is aiming to develop better materials for a broad range of energy and bioelectronic applications. The grant involves an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Departments of Physics (Friend, Greenham, Rao, Sirringhaus), Chemistry (Grey, Bronstein), Materials Science (Monserrat) and Electrical Engineering (Malliaras) at the University of Cambridge and the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford (McCulloch, Goodwin). Several positions will become available over the next year with a focus on chemical synthesis, physical characterisation using techniques, such as time-resolved optical spectroscopy and microscopy, transport measurements or ESR/NMR, theoretical simulations as well as device physics studies.

Candidates should hold a PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related area and ideally have research experience in either synthesis, physical characterisation, device physics or theoretical simulation of organic semiconductors, metal halide perovskites, metal organic frameworks, inorganic ceramics for battery energy storage or related functional materials. We particularly encourage expressions of interest from women and/or candidates from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background for these positions.

To express an interest in any of these positions please directly contact any of the investigators listed in the team page and contact the project lead, Prof. Henning Sirringhaus by email and include your CV.
